70th edition, July 8 - September 3 2022
“Concerts of Wagnerian Music on the 70th anniversary of the Maestro's death”. So said the poster of those first two concerts of 18 and 21 June 1953 which became the prologue of one of the oldest Italian festivals: the Ravello Festival.
Those two concerts, conceived by Girolamo Bottiglieri, then President of the Provincial Tourist Board of Salerno and by Paolo Caruso from Ravello, to whom he owes the daring intuition of the stage suspended over the sea, definitively linked, through Wagner, the fate of Ravello to music.
From the beginning, the Ravello Festival has established itself and characterized itself thanks to a relationship between music and landscape that has made the concerts unique by making the stage of Villa Rufolo that some of the most important exponents of the international music world performed on that stage.
The seventieth edition of the Ravello Festival, organized by the Ravello Foundation, which this year celebrates its twenty years of activity, supported by the Campania Region and signed by Alessio Vlad, will be inaugurated on 8 July and will close on 3 September.
19 appointments: with 11 symphonic concerts, 2 premiered jazz concerts, 5 chamber music concerts and a piano recital.
